A collaborative performance of performance art, circus, and media art on the theme of solitary deaths among young people. It is an interactive work in which visuals respond to circus performers using the Cyr wheel and light poi. With a scrim, a laser projector, and Kinect sensors, we built a stage where the performers' trajectories become lines of light.

01 Planning
A stage of light that follows movement
We placed the trajectory of the circus body, working with the Cyr wheel and light poi, at the center of each scene. The flow of the stage was composed so that the circles the performers roll and throw become lines of light.

02 Design
A responsive stage built with scrim and sensors
A scrim was hung from the ceiling batten, and a 20,000 ANSI lumen laser projector, Kinect sensors, and a control PC were grouped in one zone at the rear. The system recognizes movement in the performance zone and returns it as projection.
03 Production
Scene sources of water, fire, and beams of light
From pillars of light and falling streams of water to trails of flame, floating particles, and hanging ropes, we created visuals with a different texture for each scene. The stage floor and wall were composed to connect as a single screen.
04 Operations
Trails of light completed inside the circle
Each time the Cyr wheel performer spun, the projected light and stage lighting spread along the path of the body. From their seats, the audience met the moment when physical movement and image overlapped into one scene.
