This work reads the spatial structure of a staircase as strata of time and projects onto it a landscape where past, present, and future overlap. As visitors move up and down the steps, they encounter memory, present sensation, and possibilities yet to come.

01 Planning
A staircase as strata of time
We read the staircase as strata of time in which past, present, and future are layered. It was planned so that visitors passing over the steps would encounter memory, present sensation, and possibilities yet to come.

02 Design
Projection onto every single step
Using the height and width of the steps in front of the Bitgoeul Culture Center as a reference, we projected lines to divide the surfaces. Considering the outdoor conditions, the projector was housed in an enclosure and installed in front of the stairs.

03 Production
Layer upon layer of color
So that different times appear to overlap on each step, we created visuals in which colors and patterns pile up in layers and then flow down. The images were stacked in forms of repetition and persistence.
04 Operations
People passing over the stairs
Every night of the event, visitors walked up and down the color-soaked stairs, passing between the strata. The work let them sense their own position on the steps as a feeling of here and now.
