"Ship of Victory" is a media facade that applies projection mapping to the turtle ship in Yi Sun-sin Square, Yeosu, reactivating a historical object through a present-day sensibility. The flow of lines, the division of planes, and the tension of the hull's contours were translated into light.

01 Planning
Casting light on a form that remains
We saw the turtle ship in Yi Sun-sin Square not as a reenactment of battle, but as a form that has endured time and regains its light today. Our goal was to translate the flow of its lines and the division of its planes into light.

02 Design
Two projectors from the side
We placed two 16,000 ANSI lumen projectors at the side of the turtle ship, designed to divide and cover the curved hull. Mounts were set on the railings and observation deck around the square to secure the throw distance.

03 Production
Visuals that follow the rhythm of the hull
The visuals were produced to match the planks, contours, and line flow of the turtle ship. On site, we aligned each surface of the hull one by one with mapping software on a laptop so that no light spilled beyond the form.
04 Operations
A ship afloat again in the night square
Throughout the Cultural Heritage Night, the turtle ship changed colors every evening and rose at the center of the square. We managed the projection from an operations tent beside the square, watching over the night as visitors came and went.
